Who operates CouldItBe

m2Dev LLC operates CouldItBe.ai. This policy covers the public tools and optional contributions described here. Separate study pages explain their additional consent requirements. Read our Terms of Service for permitted use and report limitations.

Text and local files

Local review processes pasted text and selected TXT, DOCX, PDF, image, audio, and video files in browser memory. Local review does not send that material to CouldItBe or an external model. Optional server scans are separate actions described below. Clear, replacement, navigation, or reload discards the active material.

Public URLs

The URL tool sends the public address—not account credentials—to CouldItBe for one bounded retrieval. The retrieved page is measured transiently and discarded. Reports contain derived measurements, not the fetched page text or submitted URL. Do not submit authenticated, private, personalized, or sensitive addresses.

Linked videos

If you choose a direct public video link, the address is sent to CouldItBe for a safety preflight. After your separate confirmation, the video bytes pass transiently through CouldItBe to this browser for the same bounded analysis used for local files. The address and video are not retained, added to reports, or contributed to research. Local video uploads remain browser-only.

Optional research contributions

After a result is complete, you may separately opt in to contribute only displayed derived measurements, a purpose, and an unverified source label. Source text, media, filenames, submitted URLs, and account data are not stored in these research records. Live records expire after 90 days, and the one-time deletion code can remove a record sooner.

Where available, a second unchecked choice for URL results may retain a secret-keyed URL history value for up to 30 days. The URL itself is not retained. Self-declared contributions help identify counterexamples and research questions; they are not treated as verified ground truth.

Content-free feedback

Feedback is optional and accepts fixed choices only. It does not accept source material, filenames, URLs, free-form comments, or account data. Feedback records older than 90 days are removed when new feedback is received.

Optional matched-writing study

The optional adult writing study keeps drafts and checkpoint text in browser memory while a participant writes. Nothing is sent automatically. If the participant separately confirms submission, CouldItBe receives the final essay, assignment choice, disclosed assistance, and a privacy-minimized checkpoint record. Intermediate checkpoint drafts are not sent. Submissions expire after 90 days, and a one-time deletion code allows earlier removal. A complete ZIP download remains available as an optional participant-controlled backup.

Volunteer Audio and Video studies

The adult research pages state clearly whether submission is open. The Video page currently performs only browser-local checks and cannot submit a file. If Video intake is separately activated, an authorized MP4 or WebM will be privately quarantined for complete offline validation and research review, never published or publicly playable, never sent to an external AI model, and deleted within 90 days or sooner with its private deletion receipt. Participants must save that receipt because CouldItBe does not retain a recoverable copy. Privacy-safe exports exclude source media, filenames, object keys, deletion credentials, and source-bearing identifiers.

Network and service data

Like most websites, the hosting and security provider may process limited connection data such as an IP address, request time, browser information, and requested route to deliver and protect the service. CouldItBe does not add behavioral analytics, advertising trackers, or cross-site tracking to the public beta.

Theme preference

If you choose Light, Dark or Graphite, your browser stores only that display preference under the key coulditbe-theme. It is not sent to our servers or used for tracking. Clear this site’s browser data to remove the saved preference. Theme selection still works for the current page if your browser blocks storage. No analyzed content is stored with this preference.

Optional server text scan

When configured and available, this is a separate, optional action. Local review never automatically sends writing. Before each server scan, the visitor must agree to send the current editor text through m2Dev LLC’s server to GPTZero. Changing the text clears that consent. We do not store source text or results in application storage or log request bodies; hosting infrastructure processes request metadata. A salted network identifier is sent to temporary rate limiting to control abuse. We retain aggregate character counts and a budget expiry to limit service costs; this counter contains no text, results, or visitor identifiers. GPTZero’s API privacy policy says API text is not stored by default or used for product improvement. Do not submit confidential, identifying, student, medical, or other sensitive records. Server scan results are third-party assessments and do not establish authorship. If this option is absent, it is not enabled.

Optional server image scan

When available, the image tool offers a separate Sightengine scan. Only after you select its consent box and request the scan does the selected image pass through our server to Sightengine. The transmitted file includes its embedded metadata; we replace its filename with a generic name. Local inspection alone does not upload the image.

CouldItBe does not store image bytes or provider results in application storage or log request bodies. Temporary processing and hosting connection metadata are necessary to deliver the scan. A salted network identifier limits repeat requests, and an aggregate count with an expiry caps scan usage. These counters do not contain your image. Sightengine processes uploads under its privacy policy and service terms; do not assume that browser-local privacy applies to a requested server scan.

Scan consent does not authorize research collection or model training. Our measurement contribution form does not include your image or the provider score. Changing or clearing the image clears the screening result and consent. Cancellation stops waiting for the result but cannot recall bytes already transmitted. Only upload material you have permission to share; do not submit confidential or sensitive records.

Exports

Print, JSON, and research-package exports happen only after you explicitly request them. Privacy-safe analyzer JSON excludes source text, passage content, filenames, paths, source media, hidden identifiers, and telemetry.

Children and sensitive material

Volunteer Writing, Audio, and Video studies are limited to adults. Do not submit confidential, regulated, personally identifying, or sensitive material to the URL tool or optional research workflows.

Changes and questions

Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Use your receipt on the contribution deletion page to remove shared analyzer measurements. File-study submissions use the deletion controls on their respective study pages. The content-free feedback page accepts fixed product feedback choices only. For privacy questions or applicable data-rights requests, contact m2Dev LLC through the studio contact form, or write to m2Dev LLC, 809 SW A St., Ste 105, Bentonville, AR 72712. The studio form is a separate service with its own privacy notice. Do not include sensitive source material. Because analyzer contributions are anonymous, retain your deletion code so the relevant record can be located.

What remains outside this beta

CouldItBe provides no user accounts, cloud document storage, advertising, behavioral analytics, sale of submitted material, or automatic external AI inference. Optional external scans require explicit consent as described above.
